Medicinal Fungi Secondary Metabolite And Therapeutics (MeFSAT) is a curated database which has been constructed via literature mining followed by manual curation of information gathered from more than 900 published research articles, 6 specialized books on medicinal fungi and other existing resources.
MeFSAT database captures two different types of associations:
(a) medicinal fungi and their secondary metabolites
(b) medicinal fungi and their therapeutic uses
MeFSAT database captures 184 medicinal fungi, 1830 secondary metabolites, and 149 therapeutic uses. For the 1830 secondary metabolites in this database, we provide the two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) chemical structures, and have employed cheminformatics tools to compute their physicochemical properties, drug-likeliness based on multiple scoring schemes, predicted Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity (ADMET) properties and molecular descriptors. In sum, MeFSAT is a dedicated database on secondary metabolites of medicinal fungi, and this resource is expected to aid natural product based drug discovery.
Update on 23 September 2022: We have computed the molecular scaffolds at three different levels namely, Graph/Node/Bond, Graph/Node and Graph, for each secondary metabolite in MeFSAT, and this information in now available in the updated database.
